Your nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) regulates all of your body and mind functions with billions of nerve connections.
It deals with an immense amount of information, and processes feedback loops all day, every day. It is through our nervous system that we perceive, adapt, self regulate and interact with our world – physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually.
Your nervous system is extremely clever at protecting you. Throughout your life your body creates tension in response to stress – this is entirely appropriate as it helps you rise to meet life’s challenges. However when your body holds onto this tension, it becomes restrictive and no longer beneficial. So a good short-term response can become a poor long-term adaptation.
These restrictions and tensions impact the mechanics of your spine, but also create nerve interference and are an upset in the equilibrium of natural tension and tone influencing your wellbeing.
Increased tone/tension may result in:
• tension and pains in the body,
• feeling stressed,
• an inability to relax,
• anxieties
Decreased tone/tension may result in:
• lack of energy,
• poor strength and a sense of lack of support,
• poor mental focus or apathy,
• loss of self confidence or personal power.
• a sense of connection to self and your life’s journey.
